Goin’ Postal Nominated for a ROYAL (Retailer of the Year Award for Leadership)

The Florida Retail Federation (FRF), a statewide trade association founded in 1937, protects Florida's retailers by lobbying the Florida Legislature to provide cost-saving services.  FRF was founded to promote a healthy free enterprise system in Florida, and to strengthen and support a favorable business environment in which retailers and their suppliers can grow and prosper.  By protecting Florida's retail industry, FRF is working diligenty to preserve and foster the foundation of our nation’s economy.  The FRF is also actively involved in service projects.  Some recent beneficiaries of the organization’s efforts have been The Children’s Home Society, Habitat for Humanity, the FAMU Scholarship House, the Fisher House Foundation, and The United Way of Big Bend, just to name a few.

The Florida Retail Federation created the ROYAL, Retailer of the Year Award for Leadership, in order to showcase those retailers who provide outstanding service and commitment to their communities, customers, employees, and Florida’s retail industry.

Brenda Welcher, director of Main Street Zephyrhills, nominated Goin’ Postal, which was founded by local residents Marcus and Dr. M.J. Price in 2002.  The couple began franchising the Goin’ Postal concept in 2004, and today, their chain is over 330 stores strong, from Hawaii all the way across the Continental U.S.

Since 1999, The Prices have created, organized and hosted over 100 unique activities, and have participated in and supported numerous existing events, all in an effort to improve the quality of life for children, seniors, pets, and families in the Tampa Bay Area, and in Zephyrhills in particular.  In 2006, the couple developed and launched a step-by-step, detailed “community involvement program” for their chain which consists of a myriad of special celebrations and activities that their store owners are taught to conduct and to offer free to the public, nationwide, in every town and city that is “home” to a Goin’ Postal store. 

“Grassroots community action is where it’s ‘at’ and we know firsthand that one person really CAN make a difference,” says Marcus Price.  “And with an entire legion of community-minded people, our chain is doing its part to lead the way by positive example”

Dr. M.J. Price adds, “If each person takes just a moment to do something helpful for someone else, the ripple effect of positive results can be truly amazing for the entire global village.  It doesn’t have to be a grand or expensive gesture, but it’s up to each one of us to do a little something nice for someone else now and again.”
